About Northern Sydney Occupational Therapy

Northern Sydney Occupational Therapy (NSOT) provides warm, practical and individualised occupational therapy support for children and their families across Northern Sydney.

As a mobile service, NSOT brings therapy into the environments where children live, learn and play. Sessions may take place at home, early learning centres, school or online, allowing support to be tailored to a child’s everyday routines, relationships and experiences.

NSOT respects and celebrates all brains for their unique strengths, challenges and ways of experiencing the world. Therapy is shaped around each child’s interests, individual needs, daily routines and what matters most to them and their family.

The focus is on helping children build confidence, independence and self-advocacy, while supporting greater joy, connection and participation in everyday life.

Collaboration is an important part of the NSOT approach. Families, educators and other professionals are supported to work towards meaningful goals and use practical strategies that extend beyond the therapy session.

At the heart of NSOT is a commitment to creating safe, inclusive and supportive experiences where children feel understood, valued and able to participate in ways that work for them. By considering not only the child, but also the people and environments around them, therapy can support greater belonging, independence and connection within everyday life.

Meet Your Therapist

Hi, I’m Emma, paediatric Occupational Therapist, wife and mum to a very busy toddler!
With a background in Psychology as well as Occupational Therapy, I bring a strong understanding of child development, behaviour, emotional wellbeing and the many factors that can influence a child’s participation in everyday life.

I have experience supporting children across a wide range of areas, including emotional regulation, sensory processing, fine and gross motor development, school readiness, executive functioning, social participation, self-care and everyday routines.

Becoming a mum has also given me an even deeper appreciation for the realities of family life such as the busy routines, changing priorities and importance of having strategies that are not only clinically meaningful, but practical and achievable at home.

I believe the best therapy happens when children feel safe, understood and genuinely engaged. My approach is playful, strengths-based and child-led, while still keeping therapy purposeful and connected to meaningful goals.

I place a strong emphasis on working alongside parents, educators and other professionals so that strategies extend beyond the therapy session and can be meaningfully incorporated into a child’s everyday environments.

Why I Started NSOT

I started NSOT to provide families with a more flexible and personalised therapy experience.

While clinic-based therapy can be incredibly valuable, and has been an important part of my own experience as a paediatric Occupational Therapist, I also believe there is something powerful about supporting children within the environments where everyday life actually happens. By working across homes, early learning centres, schools and other community settings, I am able to better understand each child’s routines, strengths, areas of need and successes in context.

This allows therapy to feel more meaningful, practical and relevant to the child and their family, while also creating opportunities to work closely with the important people in their everyday lives.

My goal is to help children build the skills, confidence and independence they need to participate more fully in the things that matter most to them.
